WHAT COURSES ARE AVAILABLE FOR FUNDING?


  Are funding available for all courses conducted by June Floral Art School?
  There are two categories of courses offered by June Floral Art School.  
  The first category refers to the private courses (JFAS Courses) such as Basic Floral Design, Advanced Floral Design, Intermediate Floral Design, Bridal Floral Design, Commercial Floral Design, Professional Floral Design, American Floral Art Design etc. These courses are not under the grant framework, hence, no grants are available and SkillsFuture credit will not be applicable.  
  The WDA grant and SkillsFuture Credit subsidy will only be available to the WSQ Certificate in Floristry Operations and WSQ Higher Certificate in Floristry Operations course.  
   
   
  JFAS COURSES RELATED ENQUIRIES:

  Do I have to start off with basic course before pursuing others?
  Yes if you do not have prior knowledge in floristry.  
  The WDA grant and SkillsFuture Credit subsidy will only be available to the WSQ Certificate in Floristry Operations and WSQ Higher Certificate in Floristry Operations course.  
   
  Is there any courseware provided for the courses conducted?
  Students will be given the relevant course book according to the course enrolled for.  
  If you have already basic knowledge and wish to pursue our advance courses, you will have to undertake a basic assessment test.  
   
  Is there a time frame to complete each course?
  All our courses must be completed within 1 year. Special arrangements can be made with the school with prior notice if there is considerable reasons for an extension.  
  For group coaching, a set schedule will be given to all students upon commencement of course. If you have to miss any of the classes due to personal reasons, advance notice must be given to the school.  
   
  What is the class size limit?
  As our lessons are delivered in a one-to-one coaching setting, there is no stipulated class limit.  
  For group coaching, our class size is limited to 6 trainees and up to 12 trainees. Should there be more than 6 trainees, we will have 2 instructors assigned.  
   
  What kinds of certificates will be awarded after we complete the examination?
  Depending on the course selected, our certificates available are:  
 
  Basic Floral Design
  Commercial Floral Design
  Professional Floral Design
  American Floral Art School Academic
  American Floral Art School Lecturer
   
  Is the class conducted only in English?
  The course book for JFAS courses are typically in both English and Chinese and our trainers are bilingual as well.  
     

 

 

WSQ FLORISTRY COURSES


 


WSQ Floristry Course Size & Structure:

 
  What is the class size limit?
  The lessons are conducted in classroom learning style with a minimum of 6 and maximum of 12 learners.  
   
  What is the course structure?
  Lessons are conducted with a combination of majority theory-based lectures and practical sessions.  
  Each competency unit will end with an assessment that may include a variety of assessment methods such as practical, written tests and oral question and answers.  
     
   
 


CERTIFICATE IN FLORISTRY OPERATIONS


  Who should sign up for the WSQ CERTIFICATE IN FLORISTRY OPERATIONS COURSE?
  This course is suitable for individuals and new entrants looking for a career in floristry industry or existing floristry related industry employees. The course aims to equip learners the required skills in the relevant job junctions in the floristry environment.

  Is there any pre-requisites required to enrol for the course?
  The suggested entry requirements by WDA is the ESS Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Level 3. Course books provided will be in English format.  
   
  What does the course include?
  To achieve a full qualification in WSQ CERTIFICATE IN FLORISTRY OPERATIONS, learners need to complete 10 competency modules comprising of 8 Core units + 2 Elective units.  
  At June Floral Art School, the course is pre-packaged for you with the following competency modules:  
 
  Horticultural Science
  FL -HS-101C-1 Recognise and select flowers and plant materials for use in commercial floristry.
  Floricultural Practices
  FL- FP-101C-1 Care and store fresh flowers and plant material.
  Design Skills
  FL -DS-101C-1 Recognise the elements and principles of design as applied to floral artistry.
  Floristry Skills
  FL -FS-101C-1 Use and maintain tools, equipment, floral hardware and work areas.
FL -FS-102C-1 Dress floral product with bows, wrappings and other decorative accessories.
FL -FS-103C-1 Perform basic wiring techniques.
FL -FS-104C-1 Assemble fresh flower bouquets.
  Employability Skills Systems -Workplace Safety
  ES-WSH-101G-1 Workplace Safety and Health - Operation.
  Floristry Skills
  FL -FS-101E-1 Assemble fresh flowers using floral foam.

  How much is the course fee?

HIGHER CERTIFICATE IN FLORISTRY OPERATIONS


  Who should sign up for the WSQ CERTIFICATE IN FLORISTRY OPERATIONS COURSE?
  This course is suitable for existing floristry employees with advanced skills to enhance job performance.

  Is there any pre-requisites required to enrol for the course?
  There will be language skills, prior job experience in floristry or recent floristry learning experience required.  
  The suggested entry requirements by SSG is the ES Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Level 3. Course books provided will be in English format.  
  Candidates who has completed the WSQ Certificate in Floristry Operations are welcomed.  
  New candidates who has no certification to certify prior experience in floristry will be required to undertake a pre-admission test. For more details, please refer to Pre-Admission Test under this FAQ section.  
   
  What does the course include?
  To achieve a full qualification in WSQ HIGHER CERTIFICATE IN FLORISTRY OPERATIONS, learners need to complete 10 competency modules comprising of 7 Core units + 3 Elective units.

  Floricultural Practices
  FL- FP-201C-1 Monitor the quality of fresh flowers and plant materials.

  Floristry Skills
  FL -FS-201C-1 Perform advanced wiring techniques.
FL -FS-202C-1 Prepare and arrange fresh flowers bouquets.
FL -FS-203C-1 Prepare fresh flower arrangements using a base medium.
  Employability Skills Systems -Workplace Safety
  ES-WSH-101G-1 Workplace Safety and Health - Operation.

  How much is the course fee?
  The full course fee (before any subsidies and grants) for WSQ Higher Certificate in Floristry Operations is S$5810. Click here for details.  
     
     
 


Pre-Admission Test:


  New candidates who cannot supply documentation or certification to certify their prior experience in floristry will be required to sit for a pre-admission test at a cost of S$60.  
  The test is a 1hr 45min test that comprises of three components:
  • 15min Written test
  • 45min Table top arrangement practical
  • 45min Hand bouquet practical
  Candidate will be required to complete all the above components within the stipulated duration in order to be assessed for competency to sign up for the WSQ Higher Certificate in Floristry Operations course.
  If the candidate is assessed by the management as competent, the candidate can sign up for the course with the $60 Tools & Equipment fee waived off. The registration fee of $40 will still apply.
  Should the candidate be assessed to be more suited for the WSQ Certificate in Floristry Operations, he/she may sign up but Registration & Tools & Equipment fee of $100 will apply. The pre-admission test fee of $60 is not refundable nor deductible from the Certificate level course.

  Training Allowance is also available for Singapore Citizens aged 35 and years and above and earning ≤ $1,900/month under the Workfare Training Support scheme. You may be eligible for training allowance at $4.50 per hour in addition to course fee subsidies.  
  Apply via: NTUC or the 5 Self-Help Groups (AMP, CDAC, EA, Mendaki, SINDA)  
  Successful applications are subjected to the following four criteria:  
 
  Achieve at least 75% attendance
  Take all assessments
  Pass the course (certified competent)
  Are employed in a job relevant to the training
 
     
  What is the course duration and attendance requirement?
  Full time course takes place across weekdays from 9am to 6pm and takes approximately 1.5 months to two months to complete all 10 competency units.  
  Attendance will be taken and there is a minimum requirement for the candidate to meet at least 75% attendance for each of the competency units.  
     
  What are the admission procedures that we need to take note of?
 
  With your confirmation on your interest and commitment in the course based on the course dates provided by our admin team, we’ll arrange for an appointment for you to register and make payment at the school. For course dates listing, please click here.
  Prior to registering, our admin team will also advise you on the amount of grant you will be eligible for based on your age, nationality, income details.
  Upon identifying your grant category, we’ll proceed process the registration and payment.
  The above procedure should be completed at least two weeks to one month prior to course start date.
 
   
   
 


COURSE FEE & SUBSIDIES RELATED ENQUIRIES:


  Do I have to pay for additional material cost after paying the course fees?
  No, The nett course fees include all materials fee required. However, if you wish to purchase any additional floral materials for your personal usage, you can purchase it from us at student rate.  
   
  Are there any grants that I can apply to subsidise JFAS course fees?
  There are no subsidies or grant for our private JFAS courses.  
  There are, however, grants available for eligible candidates who signs up for the WSQ Certificate in Floristry Operations or WSQ Higher Certificate in Floristry Operations.  
     
  Is there any instalment plan available for course fees?
  No, there are no bank instalment plans available for all courses.  
  For JFAS Commercial Floral Design and Professional Diploma in Floral Design course, the candidate can pay the first 50% of course fees at registration and pay the remaining 50% within a month of course commencement or the 10th lesson, whichever is earlier.  
       
  What are the payment method options available?
  Payment of course fees can be made via Cash, Cheque, Credit Card or NETS.  
   
     
 


REFUND POLICY:


  What is the refund policy for the floral courses?
     
  JFAS Courses:
  Private course fees (including registration fees and tools fees) are not refundable. However, alternative arrangements can be made to extend the validity of respective courses on case by case basis upon discussion with the Principal.  
     
  WSQ Courses:
 
  Registration and Tools/Equipment fees are not refundable
  Trainee need to provide a minimum of 6 weeks’ notice, in writing, to withdraw from the course before it commences, in order to get a refund of the Nett course fee paid to school (excluding Registration fees).
  In event of withdrawal within 6 week’s from course start date, course fee received will not be refunded. Trainees, however, have an option to bring forward the paid fees to enrol in the next available WSQ batch enrolment with an additional administrative surcharge of $20. Alternatively, the candidate can choose to convert to private JFAS course with immediate effect at no additional charge.
  In event where June Floral Art School cancels a course, all fees paid (including Registration and Tools/Equipment fees) will be refunded or transferred to the next available batch.
  The school can approve a pro-rated refund of fees at any time if a module of a class is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances such as declining trainee numbers, no available trainer, which is beyond the control of the trainee.
  The school can approve a pro-rated refund of fees and charges for courses /modules at any time during the course if students can provide documentary evidence for withdrawing from the course, (e.g. Doctor’s letter certifying the candidate is suffering from serious illness or disability, or other circumstances beyond their control).
  Mode of Payment (Refund): By School’s Company Cheque only with a 2 weeks processing time for refund.
 
 
   
 


GENERAL ENQUIRIES:


  What should I do if I misplaced my JFAS Floristry courses or WSQ Floristry certificate?
  Our school will not issue replacement certificates, but we will issue a letter of certification to certify your JFAS or WSQ competency qualification.  
  From 3 November 2014 onwards, only electronic certificates (e-certs) are issued for completed WSQ competency modules. Each comes with a unique e-cert serial number issued upon successful completion of the competency unit. Candidates can log in to SkillsConnect to download and print their e-Certificates.   How do I keep myself abreast with the current trend after completion of the courses?
  We have annual overseas upgrading program open to all our students. You will get to attend courses conducted by world-renowned artists and also visits to floral gardens as part of the education program.  
     
  Can I take refresher course after graduation?
  Yes. As our student, you only need to pay for the cost of materials used.  
     
  Does the school provide any job placement service?
  We will open up job opportunities to our students should we have any job opening notices from florists or other relevant organizations.
